Since its inception, The Summit League has made it a priority to provide an opportunity to give back to the communities in which each institution resides. In 2009, the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee created the #SummitFoodFight collecting food and monetary donations for local food pantries.
The success of #SummitFoodFight has been overwhelming and continues to grow each year. Since 2009, over 855,000 pounds of food has been donated on behalf of the league members.
The Summit League Partners with Feeding South Dakota
The Summit League has once again partnered with Feeding South Dakota to provide an opportunity for fans to donate non-perishable food, and/or cash donations, during the 2020 Summit Leauge Basketball Championships at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center on March 7-10. All proceeds from the event will directly benefit the local food pantries.
Fans can bring their non-perishable food donations each day of the 2020 Basketball Championships and drop them into the Feeding South Dakota bins near the merchandise area on the main concourse level. Fans will also have the chance to enter a raffle for a chance to win a set of two (2) all-session tickets to the 2021 Summit League Basketball Championships!# Volunteers from Feeding South Dakota will be available for more information at their promotional table located in the main concourse on Saturday, March 7 and Sunday, March 8.
If you are unable to attend the 2020 tournament, you can donate directly to the Feeding South Dakota initiative by visiting the YouGiveGoods site here. The YouGiveGoods site allows the opportunity to shop directly for items of need and will be delivered directly to Feeding South Dakota.
Thank you for your support of the #SummitFoodFight initiative!
The Summit League members are excited to continue the tradition into 2019-20 with several opportunities for friends and families to donate.
