ELMHURST, Ill. - The Summit League selected Denver men's soccer player Karsten Hanlin (Centennial, Colo.) as the Male Athlete of the Month and South Dakota volleyball player Audrey Reeg (Dubuque, Iowa) as the Female Athlete of the Month for October.

Hanlin garners his first career Athlete of the Month honor after totaling six points on two goals and a pair of assists while leading Denver to a 6-0-1 record in October. He helped lead the Pioneers to a victory at then-No. 9 Butler and scored the game-winner while assisting on his team's first goal in a victory over New Mexico, which was receiving votes in the national poll. Hanlin scored his other game-winner during the month in a 2-0 victory over Western Illinois. His sixth point of the month came on an assist in a 2-0 win over Oral Roberts. Hanlin averaged 0.86 points per game while helping Denver reach a Summit League men's record with a No. 4 national ranking.

Reeg collects the first Athlete of the Month award of her career after averaging 4.13 kills and 3.67 digs per set while helping South Dakota to seven wins in nine October contests. She recorded six double-doubles during the month, including an 18-kill, 16-dig performance that led the Coyotes to a 3-2 victory over Fort Wayne after starting the match down 2-0. A two-time Offensive Player of the Week selection, Reeg recorded 19 kills in matches against IUPUI and Omaha and 16 digs against both Fort Wayne and Western Illinois. She hit .300 or better in six matches, including a .457 clip at Omaha. Her efforts played a key role in South Dakota achieving its best start (10-2) in Summit League play and reaching the 20-victory plateau for the first time at the Division I level.
