South Dakota State’s Daum, ORU's Milos Tabbed November Athletes of the Month
ELMHURST, Ill. - The Summit League has selected South Dakota State basketball player Mike Daum (Kimball, Neb.) as the Male Athlete of the Month and Oral Roberts volleyball player Laura Milos (Porec, Croatia) as the Female Athlete of the Month for November.
Daum earns his first-career Athlete of the Month honor after averaging 20.1 points per game and 8.2 rebounds per game during November. His efforts guided South Dakota State to a 7-2 record, with its only losses coming to Kansas and Wyoming. The Jackrabbits secured two wins over Power-5 conference members, Iowa and Mississippi, over this time span. The junior posted nine double figure scoring games, including five 20-plus games and two 30-plus scoring efforts. His work on both sides of the ball earned him the November 20 Player of the Week honor. The league's reigning Player of the Year averaged a league-high 30.2 minutes per game and shot 43.4 percent from the field.
Milos collects her third-career Athlete of the Month award after securing the August/September Athlete of the Month designation earlier this year. The senior closed her historic career with a 5.3 kills per set average, while hitting at a .290 clip and adding 10 service aces. She willed the Golden Eagles to the league Championship match by posting a season-high 32 kills in the semi-final against South Dakota. The Player of the Year hit .338 and added 18 digs to pull Oral Roberts from an 0-2 semi-final deficit and advance to the final. Milos helped her team to its first postseason appearance since 2006, reaching the opening round of the NIVC. She finished the 2017 season nationally-ranked in three statistical categories: third in kills per set (5.28), third in points per set (6.01) and fifth in aces per set (0.52).
