This week’s show includes highlights of men’s and women’s basketball action, a league news & notes section and the campus spotlight on North Dakota State.
All five baseball teams are in action this weekend … North Dakota State, Omaha and Western Illinois will all be kicking-off its 2014 season … The Bison travel to USC for a three-game set with the Trojans, while Omaha and Western Illinois will both be in tournaments … The Mavericks are taking part in a the week-long Snowbird Classic while the Leathernecks will be at the Nicholls State Tournament … Meanwhile, Fort Wayne is scheduled for a three-game series at Southeast Missouri State and South Dakota State has a four-game set at Alabama A&M.
Basketball / Women’s
The Summit League men’s and women’s basketball continues this weekend … The men’s and women’s weekly notebooks and the men’s and women’s resource pages supply all the necessary league info to follow the season … Single-session tickets for the 2014 Summit League Basketball Championships will go on sale Monday … Click here for more information.
On the men’s side, four teams are in action this week … Denver is at the Desert Intercollegiate while South Dakota is at the Snowman Getaway in Goodyear, Ariz. … North Dakota State and Western Illinois are both taking part in the Moe O’Brien Intercollegiate … In women’s action, Denver is at the All State Sugar Bowl Invitational and South Dakota is at the Islander Classic … Also, North Dakota State and Omaha are competing in the Grand Canyon Invitational.
Six league softball teams are in action this week, all in tournament play … South Dakota State and Western Illinois are both taking part in the Central Arkansas Invitational … IUPUI heads to the Cardinal Classic in Louisville and South Dakota is at the ULM Tournament … North Dakota State and Omaha both head to the state of Texas for the Houston Tournament and UTSA Invitational, respectively.

This week’s ITA polls have Denver’s men at No. 52 and the women at No. 57 … Fort Wayne’s Gerard Guell and Denver’s Evy Van Genechten were named Summit League Players of the Week.
Track & Field
Two Summit League women’s teams are ranked in the USTFCCCA Top-15 Regional rankings, North Dakota State is ranked eighth and South Dakota is 11th in the Midwest Region … The Coyote women’s squad is ranked No. 14 in the latest USTFCCCA national rankings … As a league, the women are ranked 10th in the USTFCCCA Conference Index rankings … Five league teams are in action this weekend … Fort Wayne takes part in the Boilermaker Invitational while South Dakota is hosting the USD Open with South Dakota State and Western Illinois also competing ... Summit Leaguers have combined for six NCAA top-30 times/marks, including four top-10 performances … South Dakota’s Emily Grove is ranked second in the pole vault (14’4”/4.37m) while teammate Bethany Firsick is tied for eighth (14’1.75”/4.31m) … Also for the Coyotes, Megan Glisar is tied for third in the high jump (6’0.75”/1.85m) … On the men’s side, North Dakota State’s Andy Lillejord is sixth in the country in the heptathlon (5,628 points).
