November Athletes of the Month Release

ELMHURST, Ill. - The Summit League has selected IUPUI men’s cross country runner Tom Ohlman (Carmel, Ind.) as the Male Athlete of the Month and Oral Roberts women’s basketball player Vicky McIntyre (Omaha, Neb.) as the Female Athlete of the Month for November.

Ohlman earns his first career Athlete of the Month award after earning Championship MVP honors at The Summit League Cross Country Championships. The senior cross the finish line with an 8k time of 25:23.2 to help lead IUPUI to its first-ever Summit League Men’s Cross Country Championship title. His winning time was more than three seconds faster than the next closest competitor and he became the first individual champion in Jaguar history. At the Great Lakes Regional race, Ohlman placed 29th out of 207 runners with a 10k time of 30:48. IUPUI finished in ninth place at the meet. Ohlman helped the Jaguars obtain its highest regional finish and regional ranking in school history this season.

McIntyre collects the Athlete of the Month honor after setting a new Summit League record and averaging a double-double for the month. In a victory over Austin Peay on Nov. 29, the senior center grabbed a single-game league record and NCAA season-high 27 rebounds while adding 22 points, four blocks and two assists. The previous mark of 23 rebounds was set in 1993 and stood for nearly 22 years. She was named the league’s Player of the Week and earned a spot on ESPNW.com’s NCAA Starting Five. McIntyre had a near triple-double in a win over Missouri State on Nov. 24 with 23 points, 12 rebounds and eight blocks. To begin the season, she recorded a pair of double-doubles vs. top-10 programs Baylor (10 points, 17 rebounds) and Tennessee (10 points, 13 rebounds). For the month, McIntyre averaged 12.7 points, 15.9 rebounds, 4.9 blocks and 1.4 assists per game while shooting 51 percent (33-of-65) from the field and 92 percent (23-of-25) at the free throw line. She ended the month leading the nation in blocks per game (4.9) and double-doubles (5) while ranking second in rebounds per game (15.9).
