WIU’s Thompson, FW’s Phelps Earn Weekly #SummitBSB Honors

ELMHURST, Ill. – Western Illinois outfielder Deion Thompson was named The Summit League's Player of the Week while Fort Wayne starter Brandon Phelps earned the Pitcher of the Week award for their performances May 14-20.

  • Secured his first career Player of the Week award
  • Went 3-for-4 with four RBI, a double and home run in the series finale win at Omaha
  • His seventh inning homer in game three was the eventual game-winner against the Mavericks
  • Added a pair of hits and a RBI in a non-league contest at Kansas
  • For the week, batted .389 (7-of-18) with seven RBI, three runs scored, two doubles, two home runs, two walks and two stolen bases
  • Had an .833 slugging percentage and .450 on-base percentage
