TULSA, Okla. -- Summit League Pitcher of the Year Payton Kinney turned in another sterling performance on the mound for Omaha and this one only came on two days rest. More importantly, it led the Mavericks to their first #SummitBSB Championship as they defeated Oral Roberts 4-0 in a winner take all game.

The Golden Eagles forced that earlier in the day when freshman Trey Wolf tossed his own gem, allowing just six hits in his first career shutout during a 6-0 victory for ORU, who kept their hopes alive for a fifth-straight postseason title.

The script was flipped in game two, however, and the sixth-year senior and his classmate Braden Rogers had a lot do with it. After he allowed a leadoff single and intentional walk in the first inning, Kinney did not allow another baserunner until a pair of back-to-back walks in the seventh inning forced head coach Evan Porter to go to the bullpen.  Grant Suponchick quickly came in and retired the next two batters to keep the lead at four.

While Kinney was holding the Oral Roberts' bats at bay, the Mavericks' offense churned out four runs with three of those coming on a pair of home runs from Rogers, who had just two during the regular season.

He put the Mavericks on the board with a solo shot just inside the left-field foul pole in the second and Kiel Krumwiede then found the gap in right-center to add a run-scoring triple and make it a 2-0 contest.

Four innings later, Rogers belted a two-run shot in the sixth to double Omaha's advantage and give Kinney a four-run cushion.

Cal Hehnke picked up his second save of the tournament in the ninth, pitching around a one-out triple off the bat of Hunter Wilson.
