North Dakota State 75, Omaha 72
OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Lawrence Alexander scored 18 points, Paul Miller made six consecutive free throws in the last 11 seconds and North Dakota State held off Nebraska-Omaha 75-72 on Thursday.
A.J. Jacobson scored 17 points with eight rebounds and Dexter Werner added 14 points. Miller finished with 10 points and was 8 of 8 from the line overall.
CJ Carter's jumper with 7:49 left in the first gave Omaha a 24-23 lead, but the Bison closed on an 11-3 run and led 34-27 at halftime.
Marcus Tyus' 3-pointer, followed by Devin Patterson's traditional three-point play, put Omaha up 52-48 with 8:28 left. North Dakota State (11-5, 3-0 Summit League) responded with a 13-2 surge, capped by Alexander's 3-pointer, to lead by seven with 4:18 left and the Bison held off Omaha down the stretch.
Tre'Shawn Thurman and Mike Rostampour led Omaha (7-8, 1-2) with 18 points apiece, and Thurman grabbed eight boards.
Fort Wayne 69, Denver 53
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) — Mo Evans was 3 of 4 from 3-point range with 16 points and Fort Wayne beat Denver 69-53 on Thursday night.
The Mastodons (8-8, 1-2 Summit League) led 48-32 after a 14-2 run early in the second half. Denver (7-9, 1-2) cut the deficit no closer than 13 points from there.
IPFW took the lead for good after a 22-all tie, closing the first half on a 12-5 run.
Max Landis was also 3 of 4 from 3-point range with 13 points and Joe Reed scored 12. IPFW outrebounded the Pioneers 28-10 and shot 18 of 19 from the free-throw line.
Denver was 12 of 26 from 3-point range and 19 of 39 from the field but only 3 of 4 from the foul line. Marcus Byrd led the Pioneers with 14 points. Brett Olson added 13 points and Jalen Love scored 12.
