SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – In its first season at the Denny Sanford PERMIER Center, The Summit League Basketball Championships smashed 11 all-time attendance records. Previous session marks fell each day and culminated in new standards for both the men's and women's tournament as well as the overall combined total.

"Our marquee event not only set numerous attendance marks, but did so at an astounding rate," said Summit League Commissioner Tom Douple. "The bar has been raised higher than ever and the resulting figures are a resounding testament to the support we receive from the passionate fans who make our tournament the largest sporting event in the state of South Dakota. Our tournament has grown into an experience that firmly establishes it among the best-attended across the nation."

By the semifinal round, the overall men's tournament attendance record had already fallen. During the women's championship game, the overall combined men's and women's record was set even before the men's title game tipped off.

Furthermore, the March 10 women's championship game drew 6,926, which currently ranks as the nation's highest total for any 2015 Women's Division I conference championship game to date.
