IPFW's Rinehart Named #SummitWBB Player of the Week

ELMHURST, Ill. – Fort Wayne's Rachel Rinehart was named The Summit League's Player of the Week for her performances Dec. 22-28.

Rinehart earns her first career Player of the Week award after guiding Fort Wayne to a win over Milwaukee. The sophomore guard scored a career-high 26 points on 8-of-10 shooting against the Panthers while adding three rebounds and three assists. Earlier in the week, Rinehart scored 12 points with four rebounds, two assists and two steals in a loss to Oakland. For the week, Rinehart averaged 19 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, one steal and one block per game. She had a 1.7 assist-to-turnover ratio while shooting 71 percent (12-of-17) from the field, 60 percent (3-of-5) from downtown and 92 percent (11-of-12) from the free throw line.

In its fourth decade of Division I athletics, The Summit League features women's basketball teams from nine member institutions: Denver, Fort Wayne, IUPUI, North Dakota State, Omaha, Oral Roberts, South Dakota, South Dakota State and Western Illinois. Over the past five seasons (2010-14), The Summit League has the nation's second-highest RPI gain (+10) during that span. In 2013-14, The Summit League tied its all-time high with four teams across three national postseason tournaments, recorded its highest combined postseason winning percentage and deepest postseason national tournament run, and had its best year-end Sagarin Ranking in a decade.
