FORT WAYNE, Ind. ( -- The University of Denver women's basketball team never trailed for a single moment against Fort Wayne, as the Pioneers rolled to victory, 73-55 inside Gates Sports Center on Saturday afternoon.

DU moves to 10-7 on the season and 1-1 in the Summit League, while the Mastodons dropped to 3-13 and 0-3 in the Summit.

Claire Gritt directed Denver to victory, as the freshman recorded 17 points, finishing 50 percent (6-for-12) from the field and a perfect 100 percent (3-for-3) from downtown. Gritt also had four rebounds.

Not far behind Gritt was Jordyn Alt, who scored 14 points. The senior also notched six rebounds, leading the team with Briana Johnson.

South Dakota State 83, North Dakota State 63 | SDSU Recap // NDSU Recap 
BROOKINGS, S.D. ( -- The South Dakota State women's basketball team used four players scoring in double figures to power its way to an 83-63 win over North Dakota State Saturday afternoon in front of 1,989 fans at Frost Arena in Summit League action.
Junior Madison Guebert scored a game-high 18 points to lead the Jackrabbits, now 12-4 and 2-0. Junior Macy Miller added 14 points and freshman Tylee Irwin and sophomore Tagyn Larson each scored 13 points.
North Dakota State, 7-9, 0-2, was led by Sarah Jacobson's 16 points. Michelle Gaislerova and Emily Dietz added 14 and 11 points, respectively.

MACOMB, Ill. ( -- Behind the efforts of Taylor Higginbothamand Olivia Braun, Western Illinois was able to pick up its second Summit League win of the season with a 56-49 win over Oral Roberts Saturday afternoon (Jan. 6) inside Western Hall.
Higginbotham recorded her sixth double-double of the season of 19 points and 14 rebounds, while Braun tallied a season-high of 16 points along with eight rebounds and four blocks. Western Illinois held a three-point lead after one quarter of play after closing out the first 10 minutes on a 9-2 run.

Through 35 years of Division I athletics, The Summit League features men's basketball teams from eight member institutions: Denver, Fort Wayne, North Dakota State, Omaha, Oral Roberts, South Dakota, South Dakota State and Western Illinois with North Dakota becoming an official member for the 2018-19 season. In 2016-17, The Summit League raised its RPI for the third consecutive year, finishing with an all-time best No. 11 ranking. The Summit League has sent at least three teams to the postseason nine straight years with three postseason tournament semifinal appearances the last four years, while recording the nation's best Division I winning percentage improvement since 2009-10. Called "March's Best-Kept Secret" by USA Today, The Summit League Basketball Championships annually ranks as one of the most attended Division I conference tournaments.
