SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Summit League women's basketball enters the month of December and is now just a few short weeks away from opening conference play. The early part of the month will feature some important out-of-conference games against nationally ranked opponents as Summit League members continue to work on their resumes for March.


The Opening Tip

North Dakota is led by senior forward Lexi Klabo and the senior, amid seven straight road games to open the season, has put up some impressive numbers. Klabo leads North Dakota in scoring and rebounding on the season. In the Fighting Hawks last two games, Klabo became the first Summit League student-athlete to score at least 30-points in back-to-back games since the 2014-15 season. Her double-doubles against Rhode Island and UMass give her four on the year, the most in the Summit League. After averaging an impressive 30-points and 12 rebounds in their two games last week, Klabo earned her first career Summit League Player of the Week honor.


Things to Watch

• South Dakota State will host No. 21 Drake on Saturday. It will be their third game this season against a team ranked in the AP Top 25. They are 0-2 in top 25 games this season

• SDSU's Macy Miller is just five points shy of moving into seventh on the Summit League's all-time scoring chart

•  Omaha will take on crosstown rival Creighton on Thursday. Omaha will be the fourth Summit League school to play Creighton this season. The Summit League has combined to post a 2-1 record against the Blue Jays             


Summit League Notes


• Denver is off to a 6-2 start this season. It is the best start in Denver's Division I history

• Lauren Loven ranks 23rd nationally in points per game (21.1 ppg)

• Denver jumped into the Mid-Major Top 25 poll this week at No. 20

North Dakota

• Senior forward Lexi Klabo was named The Summit League Player of the Week after averaging 30 points and 12 rebounds

• Emily Dietz posted a double-double against UMKC. She had 16 points and 10 rebounds

North Dakota State

• North Dakota State enters the midweek with a 2-6 overall record

• Michelle Gaislerova leads the team in scoring at 18 points per game. She is the only Bison to average double-digit points

• NDSU has been outscored in the second-quarter of games 141-105


• Omaha will battle crosstown rival Creighton on Wednesday

• The Mavericks enter the midweek on a three-game winning streak

• UNO has assisted on 97 of its 161 field goals, a remarkable 60.3 percent mark

• In UNO's last two games, the Mavericks held Detroit Mercy and Graceland to a combined 32 points in the second half

• The Mavericks rank second in The Summit League in rebounds per game and rebounding margin

• UNO also is in the conference top five in assists and steals

Oral Roberts

• Oral Roberts enters the midweek on a two-game winning streak. On the year they are 5-4

• They will host UT Arlington on Thursday and own a 4-1 home record

• The Golden Eagles are outscoring their opponents by seven points this season

• Lakota Beatty leads the team in scoring at 14.1 points per game

• ORU has a turnover margin of +2

Purdue Fort Wayne

• Purdue Fort Wayne has posted a 3-6 record so far this year

• They will host Eastern Michigan on Dec. 8

• The Mastodons are averaging 63.9 points per game

• De'Jour Young leads the team in scoring at 13.1 points per game. She is also averaging a team best 5.8 rebounds per game

• Jaelencia Williams has earned 11 blocks this season

• Hannah Albrecht is shooting just under 80 percent from the three-point line. She has made 7-of-9 from long range

South Dakota

• South Dakota is receiving votes in the latest AP Poll after knocking off No. 23 Iowa State last week. It was their first win over an AP Top 25 team in program history

• Four Coyotes scored in double figures in their win over Missouri State on Tuesday

• USD is on a six-game winning streak and have won eight of their first nine games

• The Coyotes are outscoring their opponents by 18 points per game this season

• USD has outscored opponents in the first quarter 174-106

South Dakota State

• SDSU has the 15th-toughest schedule in the NCAA

• South Dakota State is on a two-game winning streak and will welcome No. 21 Drake to Frost Arena on Saturday

• Three Jackrabbits are averaging double-digit points this season: Macy Miller (18.0), Madison Guebert (12.4) and Myah Selland (11.1)

• SDSU has been outscored by opponents 131-122 in the first quarter but have outscored their opponents in the second quarter 151-117

Western Illinois

• The Leathernecks overcame a 16-point deficit and a 72-all tie in the final minute en route to a 77-72 win over Austin Peay

• Taylor Higginbotham recorded her first double-double of the season on 14 points and 12 rebounds

• Western Illinois ranks third nationally in three-point field goals made and attempted

• Western Illinois will compete in the "Compass Challenge" on Saturday. This is a two-day tournament that features four directional schools from Illinois
