Weekly Notebook 7 W/ Stats

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – A busy week is in store for The Summit League as teams complete their non-conference schedules ahead of the holiday break. We have teams in Puerto Rico, Las Vegas, Florida and across the country making one last push before they enter the meat of their schedules in January.

The Opening Tip

The University of South Dakota picked up their second straight player of the week honor and third of the season with Ciara Duffy earning her third career honor. Duffy and the Yotes became the first Summit League squad to reach double-digit wins in their lone contest last week. Duffy scored a game-high 20 points against the SEC's Missouri Tigers. She had a stellar all-around performance with four rebounds and three assists while also going 5-for-5 from the free throw line. With their win over Missouri, USD became the first Summit League program to defeat two top 25 ranked opponents in the same regular season.

Things to Watch

• South Dakota continues to inch closer to the AP and WBCA Top 25 rankings. The Yotes are currently 27th in the AP Poll and 29th in the WBCA. If the Yotes crack the top 25 in either poll next week, they will be the first Summit League women's basketball team to earn a top 25 ranking since South Dakota State finished the 2008-09 season ranked 16th

• SDSU's Macy Miller continues to climb the career scoring ladder in both the Summit League. Miller is already SDSU all-time leading scorer and just 82 points shy of becoming the programs first 2,000-point scorer. She will be the sixth Summit League player ever to surpass 2,000 career points

•  Friday will be a busy day for Summit League members as seven of the nine teams will be in action. Friday's games will be the last before the teams take a week off for the holidays. Games will resume on Dec. 28

• Due to Christmas Eve falling on a Monday, The Summit League will release what would be next week's player of the week on Saturday, Dec. 22
