ELMHURST, Ill. – Oral Roberts' Laura Milos and South Dakota's Anne Rasmussen were once again named the #SummitVB Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week Monday after registering impressive individual totals and combining to go 4-0 in league play over the weekend.
The league's all-time leader in offensive POTW awards, Milos secured her fourth this season and the 15th of her career after blasting 43 kills in seven sets for a 6.14 kills/set average. Milos also added a .381 hitting percentage and 13 service aces (1.86 aces/set) to help the Golden Eagles (11-10, 8-1) secure road wins over Fort Wayne and Western Illinois.
In fact, Milos' 10 service aces against the Leathernecks marks the first time in 2017 that an NCAA Division I volleyball student-athlete reached double-digits in that statistical category, accomplishing the feat in three sets no less. It marked the third time in her four-year career that Milos notched 10-plus aces in a match.
Currently, Milos sits at third in the nation in kills/set (5.25) and fourth in total kills (399).
Rasmussen and the Coyotes (13-8, 7-2) also logged a pair of road wins, besting Western Illinois and rival North Dakota State in straight-set sweeps. Rasmussen dug out 26 balls against the Leathernecks and 15 more versus the Bison for a total of 43 (7.17 digs/set). Fifteen proves to be the magic number for the sophomore from Oak Creek, Wis., as her team is 12-4 this season when she reaches or surpasses that dig mark.
Additionally, the four-time defensive POTW has mustered 208 digs for a 6.50 digs/set average in league matches this season—both of which rank No. 1 in the Summit. Rasmussen's 5.41 digs/set season average also ranks 21st in the country.
